Amid the ongoing war over language ‘imposition’ in Tamil Nadu, CM MK Stalin has now written a second letter to DMK cadre. He wrote:

“To those who ask why the DMK is still opposing Hindi, my answer is we are opposing because you are imposing. We won’t oppose it if you don’t impose it. We won’t erase the Hindi signage if you don’t impose. Self Respect is the base of Tamil culture. If you touch that, we won’t remain silent.

Instead of asking us how north Indian passengers will identify junction names if Hindi signages in TN railway stations are being defaced, the BJP members here should ask PM Modi, HM Amit Shah and Min Dharmendra Pradhan how south indians including Tamils who travel to Kasi and Kumbh Mela will understand the junction names if there are no south Indian translations in the signboards.

The Dravidian Movement is not against any language. Tamil has never killed another language. Tamil has also never left external forces to dominate it.

If TN is fighting against the Union BJP Govt’s plot to impose Hindi through the National Education Policy first and then to impose Sanskrit subsequently thereby killing the Tamil language and pride, it is because of the strong foundation of courage laid by our Dravidian icons earlier. Protests that our cadre are undertaking now against Hindi imposition are reminiscent of the similar protests from decades back.

The Dravidian Movement paved way for TN’s growth. The Union BJP Govt is continuing its attempts to stop TN’s growth. Let’s voice together against this evil plan to safeguard state rights and Tamil language.”
