
The government has given a nod to discuss Operation Sindoor during the Monsoon session of the Parliament starting tomorrow, July 21, The Indian Express reported, citing sources. The Monsoon session will conclude after a month on August 21 and will include a total of 21 sittings.
The report further added that a call is yet to be made regarding the electoral rolls revision in poll-bound Bihar.
INDIA bloc meeting
This comes after the INDIA bloc, which the Aam Aadmi party has exited, held a virtual meeting on July 19 with its member parties on major issues. These include the terror attack in Pahalgam, India’s retaliatory action against Pakistan – Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump claiming to have brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, India’s foreign policy and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar that the opposition alleges “threatens people’s voting rights”.
The meeting was reportedly attended by several politicians, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal, and Jairam Ramesh of the Congress. Ram Gopal Yadav represented the Samajwadi Party, while Abhishek Banerjee joined from the Trinamool Congress. From Shiv Sena (UBT), both Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut were present, alongside NCP(SP) leaders Sharad Pawar and Jayant Patil. Other prominent attendees included J&K CM Omar Abdullah, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD, and DMK’s Tiruchi N Siva.
D Raja for the CPI, MA Baby for the CPI(M), and Dipankar Bhattacharya for CPI(ML) Liberation. Additional participants included Kerala Congress (M) MP Jose K Mani, RSP leader NK Premachandran, Thol Thirumavalavan from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and IUML’s KM Kader Mohideen.
All party meeting underway
An all-party meeting has begun at 11 am today in the Main Committee Room ahead of the Parliament session beginning tomorrow, July 21. It is being chaired by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
The meeting aims to foster cooperation and coordination among all political parties to ensure that both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha work smoothly.
It is to be noted that no sittings are scheduled between August 12 and August 18 in light of Independence Day on August 15.
“Parliament is about to begin. Whatever issue comes up in Parliament, we will listen to it. Yesterday, I had a very good meeting with Kharge ji and Rahul ji. I keep having regular meetings with leaders of other opposition parties. Being the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, it is my responsibility to maintain coordination with everyone,” Rijiju said.
The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024 are among the key bills that will be tabled in the upcoming session. In total, seven pending bills have been listed for consideration and passage, while eight bills are proposed to be restored for discussion.
