After several vehicles were damaged on Thursday as the basement of a residential society in Ghaziabad’s Crossings Republik collapsed due to heavy rains, Dipanshu Jain, President of the Apartment Owners Association, alleged that the builder had not obtained necessary permissions before constructing the society.

According to Dipanshu, the builder had only applied for the NOC, but no official permissions were ever granted to construct the society. Shockingly, he alleged that when he raised objections, the builder threatened him, asking him to stay silent and not interfere.

Jain further revealed explosive details, stating that the entire construction rests on a foundation of illegal approvals and encroached land. Most residents were unaware of the legal status at the time of purchase, as they had already begun paying EMIs and were eager to move in.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, Jain said that multiple complaints were filed over the past 4 to 5 years against the builder — regarding poor drainage, faulty construction, and encroachments — but no action was taken by the authorities.

He also confirmed that the builder is currently absconding, while residents now face the risk of eviction and financial loss.

This comes after the basement of a residential society in Ghaziabad’s Crossings Republik collapsed on Thursday due to heavy rains. Multiple vehicles that were parked were badly damaged in the incident. A bulldozer was called to the spot to remove the vehicles from the debris. Local people have blamed the negligence of the drainage system for this incident.
