Parliament Monsoon Session 2025 Operation Sindoor Live Updates: After multiple disruptions and adjournments in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the past week, the Parliament is ready to address the questions around Operation Sindoor today. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to open the discussion in Lok Sabha today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also anticipated to join the discussion on India’s retaliation to the deadly Pahalgam attack.
Amid Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s claims of not being allowed to speak in the Parliament and the Opposition demanding a debate over Op Sindoor, the debate is expected to bring commotion amid a series of questions. It will also be interesting to see if Congress allows Shashi Tharoor to speak. He has been at odds with his own party after praising the Modi government’s handling of the situation and leading a delegation to the US and other countries.
One of the key questions that the Opposition wants answers to is for the Centre to counter US President Donald Trump’s claims of helping India and Pakistan with “ceasefire” in exchange of trade deals. Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are also expected to speak from the government’s side.
16-hour long debate on Op Sindoor
Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have agreed to hold a 16-hour debate on Operation Sindoor, though such debates often go beyond the scheduled time. Apart from top BJP leaders and ministers like Anurag Thakur, Sudhanshu Trivedi, and Nishikant Dubey, the ruling NDA plans to include voices from the seven-party delegations that visited over 30 countries to explain India’s position after the operation.
What is Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor was a retaliatory military action launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of several Indian soldiers. The operation, coordinated by the Indian Army, Air Force, and intelligence agencies, targeted nine terrorist infrastructures across the Line of Control (LoC) and within Jammu and Kashmir. Named “Sindoor” to symbolise sacrifice and resolve, the mission aimed to dismantle launchpads, neutralise key militant operatives, and send a strong message to Pakistan and other terror-sponsoring nations. The operation also involved precision airstrikes and ground action and has sparked intense political debate, especially over its international implications and government strategy.
‘No safe haven for terrorists’: Modi hails Operation Sindoor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Operation Sindoor had sent a powerful message to the world about how India would respond when its sovereignty is threatened. “The world saw how India responds if someone attacks its security and sovereignty,” Modi said at an event in Gangaikonda Cholapuram celebrating the birth anniversary of Chola emperor Rajendra Chola I.
He described the May 7 operation—launched after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives—as a turning point that demonstrated India’s resolve. “There is no safe haven for terrorists. Operation Sindoor created a new self-confidence across the country,” he added.
PM Modi also remarked on the public response during his visit, saying that the 3-4 km route from the helipad had spontaneously turned into a roadshow, with people hailing the military strike. “The world must now realise India’s strength,” the Prime Minister said, linking the operation to a broader spirit of national resurgence.

Condemning calls to keep politics out of sports, he wrote, “There is no cricket pitch wise enough to wash off the blood of our martyrs.” Banerjee emphasised that India’s Tricolour flies high not because of cricket, but because of the sacrifices of soldiers.
“Extending a handshake to a nation that fires bullets across our borders is not diplomacy—it’s a bloody betrayal,” he said, urging justice for Pahalgam victims over entertainment. “Anything less is an insult to our martyrs,” he concluded, demanding that the Line of Control be the only ground of contest.

Alleging intelligence failures, they claimed the government failed to anticipate the April 22 attack.
Critics, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, questioned India’s global support, citing Donald Trump’s mediation claims.
