With just minutes left in his presidency, Joe Biden issued a final batch of pardons: Members of his family.

His pardons were yet another signal of his fear that allies will be targeted by incoming President Donald Trump.

Those pardoned include brother James Biden and wife Sara Jones Biden, sister Valerie Biden Owens and her husband John T. Owens, and brother Francis Biden.

“My family has been subjected to unrelenting attacks and threats, motivated solely by a desire to hurt me—the worst kind of partisan politics.  Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe these attacks will end,” Biden said in a statement.

Biden also pardoned Gerald G. Lundergan and Ernest William Cromartie, and he commuted the life sentence of Leonard Peltier so he can serve the remainder of a life sentence in home confinement.

The announcements were made just about the same time as Biden entered the Rotunda to witness the swearing in of Trump.

Donald Trump Arrives In Rotunda , 8:46 a.m. PT: Donald Trump has arrived in the Capitol Rotunda to be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

He as cheered loudly as he entered the Rotunda.

He’s due to take the oath around noon ET/9 a.m. PT, following prayers and musical interludes, as well as Carrie Underwood singing “America the Beautiful.”

A number of lawmakers attending are wearing blue suits and red ties, mimicking Trump’s look. Trump’s tie today, though, is more of a purple-ish red.

A Telling Tale Of Two Americas, 8:16 a.m. PT: A study in contrasts in coverage of the inauguration.

On Fox News, host Harris Faulkner spoke of Trump supporters filling the streets of D.C. in celebration. The anchor may be playing to the news channel’s core audience. As Joe Biden and Donald Trump traveled by motorcade to the Capitol, cameras showed very few people along the sidewalks, on a chilly and icy D.C. morning. Military and law enforcement personnel far outnumbered citizens.

On MSNBC, Joy Reid focused on the absence of Karen Pence, even though her husband, former Vice President Mike Pence, is attending. “Karen Pence, if you are watching at home, God bless you,” Reid said. Karen Pence has made clear she has no time for her husband’s former boss after the January 6 MAGA mob threatened to hang the then VP. Also absent: Former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Tech CEOs Get Choice Spots In Capitol Rotunda, 7:52 a.m. PT: Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are among the tech industry titans who were spotted at the Capitol for the swearing in ceremony.

They, along with other tech CEOs, are expected to get the choicest of seating: In the Rotunda, where space is extremely limited and largely set aside for members of Congress. Spotted there were Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Alphabet’s Sundar Pichai, along with Rupert Murdoch and Joe Rogan.

Other guests are being seated in Emancipation Hall, part of the White House Visitor Center, where they will watch the ceremony on large screens. Also spotted at the Capitol: TikTok CEO Shou Chew, as Trump has said he will sign an executive order to try to delay congressional legislation to ban it.

“This is about mutually beneficial as it gets,” CNN’s Dana Bash said of the presence of the CEOs and their placement on a makeshift stage, in some cases in front of members of Trump’s cabinet.

Among those spotted in Emancipation Hall: Sam Altman, Logan and Jake Paul, Conor McGregor, Theo Von and Danica Patrick.

Joe Biden And Donald Trump Depart White House For Swearing In Ceremony, 7:40 a.m. PT: President Joe Biden departed the White House with Donald Trump on their way to the Capitol for the swearing in ceremony.

Biden told reporters that he left a letter for the incoming president, but declined to say what the contents were. “That’s between Trump and me.”

The ride down Pennsylvania Avenue, often with bitter rivals, is yet another longtime tradition of the transfer of power, one that didn’t happen four years ago as Trump declined to participate.

The Bidens posted one last selfie before their farewell.

First Lady Jill Biden and Melania Trump also traveled together, as did Vice President Kamala Harris and JD Vance.

The Bidens Greet The Trumps At White House, 7:22 a.m. PT: President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden greeted Donald Trump and Melania Trump at the White House for a morning tea, continuing a symbolic gesture in the transfer of power.

The two couples stood briefly for a photo, with a chilly wind blowing on the north end of the White House. Biden and Trump will soon travel to the Capitol for the swearing in ceremony.

“Welcome home,” Biden said to Trump after he got out of his black SUV, per a pool report.

Earlier, reporters asked Biden what his message was for the day. “Joy,” Biden said.

The tradition is one that Trump denied Biden four years ago, following the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Trump still insists, falsely, that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

Earlier, Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff welcomed JD Vance and Usha Vance.

Donald Trump Attends St. John’s Church Services, 6:08 a.m. PT: President-elect Donald Trump and Melania Trump kicked off Inauguration Day with a longtime tradition: Attending services at St. John’s Episcopal Church across Lafayette Square.

Trump was joined by Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife Usha, and among those attending were the leaders of the tech giants: Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta; Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and fiance Lauren Sanchez; Apple CEO Tim Cook; X’s owner Elon Musk; and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. Also present: Rupert Murdoch, TikTok CEO Shou Chew; UFC’s Dana White, podcast host Joe Rogan, and Boris Johnson, the former British prime minister, per a pool report.

The temperature in Washington this morning is 24 degrees, with the windchill even lower and a light snow on the ground, a reason why Trump decided to move the swearing in ceremony indoors. That set off a scramble for seats, as the Capitol Rotunda, where the ceremony will take place, only holds about a thousand people.

St. John’s, known as the church of presidents, holds significance from the first Trump term. It’s where Trump held up a Bible after walking with members of his administration from the White House. It was amid 2020 protests and riots following the death of George Floyd, and moments earlier, authorities from Park Police had cleared the area of demonstrators.

The service lasted for about 25 minutes and finished with a rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

Earlier, the Trump team released some excerpts of what he would say in his inaugural address to The Wall Street Journal. Trump plans to proclaim a “new era of national success” and call for a “revolution of common sense.”

“My message to Americans today is that it is time for us to once again act with courage, vigor and the vitality of history’s greatest civilization,” Trump will say, per the Journal.

The president is expected to sign dozens of executive orders today — more than 200, per Fox News, including those dealing with the border and immigration, the federal workforce and oil drilling. One executive order will lift an electric vehicle mandate, one of the signature efforts of the Biden administration to address climate change.

No new tariffs on day onepublished at 15:28 Greenwich Mean Time

Trump’s incoming team have confirmed reporting in the Wall Street Journal that while the incoming president will issue a memo directing federal agencies to study trade policies, there will not be new tariffs announced today.

The incoming Trump administration will also sign a presidential memorandum on inflation for an “all of government approach” to bring down prices “as soon as possible”, according to incoming White House administration officials.

They also said that Trump would make good on Trump’s
campaign promise to “drill baby drill”, taking a number of actions to
boost American energy production.

One executive order is focused on Alaska. The state
was described as having an incredible abundance of natural resources that
previous administrations had failed to take advantage of. Critical minerals
were mentioned as being crucial.

Additionally, Trump will sign an executive order
declaring a National Energy Emergency
. Officials said “high costs of
energy” were unnecessary and had been punitive for people over the past four
years.

The action is also crucial, they told reporters, because of the AI (artificial intelligence) race – the US needs to generate the power to stay at the forefront of this
technology which requires a lot of energy.

Eating breakfast regularly has been shown to help reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity, according to UC Davis Health. There is also evidence that eating a healthy breakfast helps with brain function, especially memory and focus, the University of California-operated health provider said.

Now, new research has revealed that oatmeal can promote longevity.

Fox News Digital spoke with two health experts about the claims.

‘I’m A Heart Surgeon, Here’s What You Should Know About Eggs, Your Heart And Your Health’

Included in the test group of a recent study by the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine was a 105-year-old woman. One step in her normal daily routine was eating oatmeal, according to Dr. Mike Sevilla, a family physician at Salem Family Care in Salem, Ohio. (He was not associated with the recent study.)

“I also remember a study from about 10 years ago from the Journal of the American Medical Association in which the participants included oatmeal in their diet,” the doctor said. “And the study revealed a decrease in premature death in those who regularly ate oatmeal.”

Eating oatmeal could lead to a longer life, a new study suggests.

Other studies about the health effects of oatmeal show it can lead to lower cholesterol levels and an improvement in blood sugar levels, which may decrease the chance of heart disease and diabetes, Sevilla also said.

Oatmeal is easy to prepare, inexpensive and customizable to personal tastes; people can add such ingredients as fruit, nuts, seeds, nut butters and spices.

Here are four health benefits that oatmeal offers.

These health benefits usually decrease the chance of developing heart disease and diabetes, Sevilla said.

Fruit, nuts and spices including cinnamon can be added to oatmeal to customize personal tastes.

“We believe the mechanisms for this are decreasing the absorption of cholesterol into the body and having better control of insulin in the system, which influences blood sugar levels in the body,” he explained.

The comforting breakfast favorite can help ward off colds and winter health woes.

“This is because minerals like selenium and copper strengthen white blood cells – a type of cell that fights illness and infection,” according to Health Reporter, a medical information website.

Oatmeal ingredients can also improve immune responses and can “combat pathogens, remove foreign substances, fight unwanted bacteria and prevent long-term diseases,” according to Health Reporter.

Not only is oatmeal a go-to breakfast that’s satisfying and filling, the digestive benefits can also help the gut.

Oatmeal is a fantastic source of soluble fiber, Brittany Kingry, a registered dietitian who is director of dietetics for CoreLife Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, told Fox News Digital.

A man holds a bowl of oatmeal with bananas in one hand and a spoon in the other.A man holds a bowl of oatmeal with bananas in one hand and a spoon in the other.

Oatmeal has digestive benefits to help the human gut.

“Oatmeal contains beta-glucans, which are a form of soluble fiber that dissolves in water and turns into a thick gel-like substance in your gut,” she said.

“This will help slow your digestion, increase good bacteria growth in the gut and assist with reduced blood glucose response as well as insulin response times.”

You can start your day feeling like a nutrition winner.

“Oatmeal is incredibly nutrient dense, full of multiple vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, folate and B vitamins, to name a few,” Kingry said.

Although oatmeal is a beneficial breakfast pick that boasts nutritional advantages, too much of it can have a few drawbacks, said experts.

Bagels, A Go-to Breakfast, Can Be Made Healthier By Choosing These Varieties And Spreads, Experts Say

“While oatmeal has wonderful benefits and is full of fiber, we have to be cautious of how much and what type of oatmeal we are incorporating into our diets,” Kingry cautioned.

Here’s what to know.

For a better balance of food groups, Kingry recommended adding some protein to your breakfast menu.

“We need to ensure that we are not eating it by itself but pairing it with protein to help with stabilizing blood sugar,” Kingry told Fox News Digital.

A spoonful of oatmeal emerges from a white bowl.A spoonful of oatmeal emerges from a white bowl.

Oatmeal is a high-carbohydrate breakfast on its own, but paired with a protein, it can help stabilize blood sugar.

“You can do this by adding nuts, protein powder (make sure to add extra water or it will become grainy) or nut butter into the oatmeal or simply by adding a lean breakfast meat on the side.”

If a person has diabetes or insulin resistance, oatmeal may not be the best option because of the high carbohydrate amount, Kingry said.

“They may benefit more from a protein-centered diet first thing in the morning and having ½ cup oatmeal on the side if desired,” she said.

Purchasing oatmeal in the grocery store can be tricky, Kingry said.

Beware those options with “added sugars or sugar alternatives,” she said. “It is always suggested to purchase plain rolled oats to help with limiting the sugar content.”

Another thing to note, Kingry said, is that while oats are naturally gluten-free, some oats can become contaminated during processing or handling.

Instead, individuals “looking for gluten-free options should pay attention to labeling for brands that are certified gluten-free.”

Kingry recommended sticking to the serving size (1 packet or ½ cup uncooked) that’s outlined on the label of the oatmeal that’s purchased.

“It’s very easy to overconsume,” she cautioned.

United Nations humanitarian officials say that more than 630 trucks of humanitarian aid have entered the besieged Gaza Strip, following the implementation of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.

In a post on social media platform X, Tom Fletcher, the United Nations under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, said that at least 300 of the trucks are bringing humanitarian assistance into the north.

“There is no time to lose,” Fletcher wrote. “After 15 months of relentless war, the humanitarian needs are staggering.”

The Gaza ceasefire deal calls for the entry into Gaza of 600 trucks carrying humanitarian relief daily. Over the course of the deal’s first stage, 33 Israeli hostages in Hamas captivity in Gaza will also be released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

Aid workers have been scrambling to address Gaza’s dire humanitarian needs after 15 months of devastating war and tough Israeli restrictions on aid deliveries and the movement of convoys within Gaza. Lawlessness and looting by armed gangs have also been a major obstacle to aid distribution.

Before this latest Israel-Hamas war began, Gaza was under a crippling Israeli-Egyptian blockade that allowed the entry of some 500 trucks a day carrying commercial supplies and humanitarian aid.

Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles

Time: Sunday, 3 p.m. ET (NBC and fubo, try for free)
Open: Eagles -6, O/U 45.5

“The Rams got stuck playing in the dreaded Monday night game during the wild-card round, which has been a nightmare for almost everyone who has ever played in it. Over the past two years, three teams have won on Monday in the wild-card round and they’ve combined to go 0-3 in the divisional round, which makes it sound like I should stop thinking about this pick right now and just take the Eagles.

Of course, if there’s any team that can overcome the Monday night curse, it’s the Rams and that’s because they’ve already done it before. The Rams won the Monday night wild-card game in 2021 and that victory ended up propelling them all the way to a win in Super Bowl LVI.

This time around, if it’s going to propel them to the Super Bowl, they’re going to have to get through the Eagles first, and to do that, they’re going to have to figure out how to tackle Saquon Barkley. If you want to know what it’s like to try and tackle Saquon Barkley, go out in your street right now and try to tackle a car. Actually, don’t do that, I don’t need CBS Sports getting sued. DON’T TACKLE A CAR. The only reason I brought that up is because when these two teams met back in Week 12, the Rams looked like they were trying to tackle a car every time Barkley touched the ball. They couldn’t tackle him and that was a big reason why he rushed for a franchise-record 255 yards in a game where the Eagles rushed for 314.

If Barkley gets anywhere near that number again, the Eagles are going to roll. If Barkley gets near 200, the Eagles will probably roll, but he might have trouble putting up a huge number against the Rams defense this time around and that’s because they’ve stepped up their game since Week 12. Apparently, the Rams have been using that game as motivation, because in the seven games since the Eagles’ loss, the Rams have only surrendered 104.1 rushing yards per game.

The Rams defense is playing at a completely different level right now: They Rams have held four of their past five opponents to SINGLE-DIGIT points and the only time a team scored more than 10 came in Week 18 when the Rams were resting their starters.

As good as the Rams have been on defense, the Eagles have been better. They’ve been playing at a completely different level than everyone else all season: They gave up the fewest yards per game during the regular season, fewest passing yards per game and the second fewest points per game. They beat up every one they face. If they can get after Matthew Stafford, it’s going to be a long day for a Rams team that went just 1-5 this year in games where Stafford was sacked at least three times. The Eagles went 6-0 when recording three or more sacks this year, including Week 12, when they sacked Stafford five times.

With both defenses playing so well, this basically comes down to which offense I trust more, and right now, that’s the Rams. The Rams could struggle in the cold weather, but it’s expected to be 40 degrees in Philadelphia on Sunday, which is about as close as it gets to tropical weather in Philly during the month of January.”

John Breech is calling for an upset in Philly this week! To check out his picks for the divisional round, click here

How about a player prop? Will Brinson encourages you to take Kyren Williams Over 12.5 receiving yards.

“The usage is going to be there for Williams, who has zero competition in the Rams backfield now after Blake Corum broke his forearm. He got 19 touches in a blowout Rams win where Los Angeles’ defense scored a touchdown (both reduce the number of opportunities for starters in theory). Williams played on 87 percent of the Rams’ offensive snaps in their domination of Minnesota, so it’s a good bet he could be even higher in a game where the Rams are big underdogs. Additionally, he hit this number against a good Minnesota run defense last week by being utilized as a passer, getting three targets from Matthew Stafford and securing all three for 16 yards. I think we can get here multiple ways. If the Rams come out passing early against a stout Philly run defense, Williams will be involved to some degree. And if the Rams are trailing, you better believe Williams will see some targets as Philly starts to get home with the pass rush and Stafford needs easier looks. There’s a world where he’s forced to stay in and block, but even then we should get some screens or quick-hitters when he chips and releases. One early catch could clear this number, honestly.”

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills

Time: Sunday, 6:30 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)
Open: Bills -1.5, O/U 52.5

“Baltimore ran for 271 yards in the first meeting. It won’t be that easy Sunday in Buffalo against a healthier Bills’ defense, but Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry give the Ravens a substantial edge on the ground. Baltimore also gives up the fewest rushing yards per game. Even if No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers (knee) does not return, Jackson still has plenty of weapons led by Henry, Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely and Rashod Bateman. Look for the Ravens to win a high-scoring classic.”

SportsLine NFL expert Larry Hartstein, who tied for 52nd out of 1,598 entries in the 2022 Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest after going 53-34-3 against the spread, has three top plays for a Divisional Round NFL parlay. The Ravens are one of his picks. To check out his other best bets, head on over to SportsLine

“This is a heavyweight battle that should be fascinating to watch unfold. Remarkably, the oddsmakers have made the Bills a home underdog at Highmark Stadium. While jarring at first glance, I think it’s warranted as the Ravens are a force at the moment. The combination of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry as a rushing duo in the backfield was built for playoff games like this. It’s also a favorable matchup with the Bills allowing 4.5 yards per rush this season, which ranks in the bottom half of the league. While Jackson and Henry rightfully take the lion’s share of attention, do you know who the No. 1 scoring defense, total defense and third-down defense has been in the NFL since Week 11? Baltimore. Their resurgence defensively is what has them as a bona fide Super Bowl contender and live to come out of Buffalo with their ticket stamped for the AFC Championship.”

Tyler Sullivan believes the Ravens are favored for good reason. To read his breakdown of each game this weekend, click here.

Mike Tierney, who is on a 53-27-2 roll with Ravens games, has just released his best bets for the divisional round. We can tell you he’s leaning Under when it comes to the total, but to check out Tierney’s official pick on the spread, head on over to SportsLine
