Tesla has finally rolled into India, and the buzz is real. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tesla India announced that customers from nearly every Indian state and Union Territory can now order a Tesla directly through its official website.
With deliveries prioritised in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram, Tesla seems to be focusing on major metro cities first.
Model Y: All You Need To Know
Making a powerful entry, Tesla has launched its premium SUV – the Model Y. The rear-wheel drive version is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long-range variant starts at Rs 67.89 lakh (on-road).
The launch marks a significant milestone for Indian EV lovers who’ve long awaited Tesla’s arrival.
Where Can You Order From?
People from almost every corner of India can place their Tesla orders now. The list includes major states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab, Kerala, West Bengal, and even far-off regions like Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram.
Mumbai’s First Tesla Showroom
Tesla’s first physical space in India is now open at Maker Maxity Mall, BKC, Mumbai. Dubbed the Tesla Experience Centre, this clean, minimal space showcases Tesla’s tech and innovation.
The showroom design, led by Chief Architect Neeta Sharada, blends global aesthetics with Indian cultural elements for a unique vibe.
Is Tesla Ready for Mumbai’s Flooded Roads?
Mumbai rains are infamous for turning streets into rivers. Every year, the city faces heavy waterlogging, especially in low-lying areas. So, the big question is: Can electric cars like Tesla survive and thrive in such harsh monsoon conditions?
Well, Tesla India just gave us a reason to believe it can.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Tesla India shared a dramatic video of a Tesla Model 3 gliding smoothly through deep floodwater, captioned boldly: “Seems like a boat. More like a Tesla.”
The clip shows the Model 3 handling knee-deep water without stalling — a moment that left the internet both impressed and amused.
What Makes Tesla So Waterproof?
Tesla cars are built with a sealed battery pack and an electric drivetrain that doesn’t rely on traditional air intakes. This means there’s less risk of water entering critical parts. Elon Musk had earlier claimed that Teslas could float “for a short period” — and this video just proved that, at least partially.
While wading through water isn’t recommended, it’s clear that the Model 3 has been engineered with some impressive resilience.
